Montepulciano is the King of every wine!
In this corner of Tuscany wine has ancient origins. There are traces of it in local Etruscan pottery, the Latin historian Livy mentions it, various medieval documents speak of the vines ot wines at Montepulciano, in the 16th c. Pope Paul III’s wine-keeper sang its praises as “perfect as tis the wine of Lords”. in 1685 the poet and naturalist Francesco Redi would make it famous in all the European court by having Bacchus say in a celebrated epic poem: “Montepulciano is the King of every wine”.
